Home > Lipigas expands in Peru to build network of LNG stations

November 11, 2022. The Chilean company, through its subsidiary in Peru, Lima Gas, plans to invest US$2.5 million in 2023 to develop the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling stations for long-distance transportation.

The investment is part of Lipigas’ experience in the use of LNG for transportation in Chile and the possibilities offered by the decision of the successive governments of Peru to promote the use of natural gas produced in the country.

“Lipigas is developing a corporate strategy of transformation, growth and diversification of the business for the coming years, which will allow it to continue being a leading company in the energy sector, prepared to take on the new opportunities that are being generated in the energy business and in others where it can take advantage of the capabilities and tools it has developed over the years. We see great potential for growth in Peru and our strategy will seek to continue increasing our participation in this market”, said the General Manager of Lipigas, Ángel Mafucci.

The acquisition is in line with the work that the firm has carried out over the last year in the use of LNG in cargo transport. In September of last year, it opened its first service station in Chile for heavy-duty trucks that operate 100% on LNG, located in the offices of Transportes San Gabriel, in Linares, Maule Region. The facility allows the displacement of the largest LNG fleet in the country with a range of up to 1,600 kilometers on Route 5 South.
