Sinaloa transport sector is prepared to switch to natural gas engines
August 8, 2013. In order to change diesel engines to natural gas, the transportation sector of the northern Mexican state of Sinaloa is preparing for the arrival of this alternative fuel for vehicles, according to Juan Francisco Lopez Orduño from the Urban and Suburban Alliance in city of Los Mochis.
The leader said that this will allow them not be asking to increase public passage rate year after year, since the switch to natural gas will mean more than 60 percent savings in fuel.
In that sense, he warned that transport activity along with the state needs to implement a system that enables them to make more profitable business because the constant increases of the diesel fuel are leading to bankruptcy.
Lopez Orduño explained that the tariff increase not solve the industry's problems because diesel goes up each month and can not lower it. However, while awaiting a fundamental solution, the 10 or 20 cents they gain will be very useful to recover profit margins.
